Business Analyst - Aladdin

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Job Introduction

The Business Analysis team work on projects as well as help investigate and resolve issues experienced in the production environment.  Commonly Business Analysts are assigned to work as part of a wider team with Project Managers, developers and representatives of the business.  In addition, there are times when the Business Analyst also needs to take on the responsibility of some of the management of the change, for example when an issue is experienced in the production environment.

The Business Analysis team works to ensure that everyone involved in a project understands what needs to change, why, how and the associated impacts on systems and processes.  We are very involved in testing as well as supporting the business as projects implement and settle into Business As Usual (BAU).

An opportunity to join this team has arisen to provide subject matter expertise in Aladdin, Jupiter’s Order Management, Investment Risk and Middle Office System.   Initiatives vary and cover any changes that involve or touch on Aladdin.  For example, working with BRS on issue resolution, extending our use of Aladdin’s functionality, supporting testing, investigating issues and helping to support the user community.

Role Responsibility

  • Work closely with the relevant business representative from the front office, Investment Risk, Investment Operations and Data Management to support use of current and new Aladdin functionality.
  • Work closely with Black Rock Systems (BRS) to maximise the benefits that Jupiter can get from the help offered by BRS.
  • Interrogate Jupiter’s Markit EDM to investigate challenges with quality and completeness of data sets sourced from Aladdin and to specify technical changes to extend the range of that data.
  • Work closely with Data Management and IT teams to ensure that Data Governance is observed and that the business requirements are fully understood from a technical perspective.
  • Produce clear, concise documentation setting out business needs, system usage and any restrictions or other considerations needed to support the project and/or BAU change.
  • Take the lead in testing changes related to Aladdin, ensuring appropriate scripting and capturing test evidence.
  • Engage with the Business Analysis team for knowledge sharing and guidance.

The Ideal Candidate

  • 2+ years’ experience of Aladdin being used within an Investment Management organisation.
  • Minimum of functional SQL to allow the interrogation of Markit EDM.
  • Good understanding of the asset management operational functions and the role of outsourced administrators.
  • Strong communication skills to audiences of varying levels of business and technical understanding and seniority.
